Dr. Corey Beckett

Dr. Corey Beckett was been selected for the Senior Executive Service (SES) as the Associate Administrator for Budget and Programs and Chief Financial Officer with the Maritime Administration (MARAD) on May 5, 2021.

Before joining the MARAD team, Beckett was the United States Secret Service Deputy Chief Financial Officer.  In this role, he provided executive leadership in the management of a $2.5 billion budget, which includes budget formulation/execution, financial management, internal controls management, procurement, and

Dr. Beckett was the Comptroller and Chief Financial Officer for the Defense Security Service (DSS) a Department of Defense agency. In this capacity, he was the primary advisor to the Director, DSS, in the areas of budget formulation, budget execution, financial management and policy, financial systems, and cost reporting.  He also provided executive leadership to the agency’s safety, logistics, facility management programs, and contracting offices.

Dr. Beckett began his federal government service as a Budget Analyst in the Office of the Secretary of Navy, Comptroller, with assignments throughout the Department of the Navy, to include Headquarters, System Commands, Fleet Staffs, and the Office of Secretary of Defense, Comptroller.  He held a variety of positions with increasing responsibility at both the headquarters Chief of Naval Operations, and Office of the Secretary and field levels of the Department of the Navy, in which he was responsible for planning and programming, budget formulation, justification and execution for a variety of operating and investment programs.

Dr. Beckett holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Tuskegee University, a Master of Public Administration from Central Michigan University, and a Doctor of Public Administration degree from the University of Maryland Baltimore.  He is a certified Department of Defense and Government Financial Manager.
